#16 Color theory
Color can help to create mood. Colors acquire socially accepted connotations when used in particular contexts. Colors can mean different things in different genres. The use of colors is to provoke certain emotions, also enhancing the storytelling. When you are analyzing it's important to remember to consider the country of origin, since it can dictate the intended meaning by the producers.
Colors that produce multiple meanings are colors like red, white, green, all signify different things based in different genres. White in western culture it signifies purity, while in Eastern cultures it refers to sorrow, bad luck or loss. Black can signify death, red can signify blood.
When it comes to romance films, red/pink , white, yellow. Red/pink is used for intimacy, charm, innocence. White is used for innocence, clarity, purity. Yellow is used for energy, it is good to use for a warm feeling. When it comes to using colors in my film I would like to use yellow and white to have a pure energetic mood. As though the plot twist will probably have a darker mood, as the main character will have the realization. I want the audience to feel the "happy" relationship as it seemed, but when they see the realization they see the shift in color, creating a different mood.
